American and Classic Cars at Heage Mill
The weather this year was not as great as we have enjoyed for past events – showers plagued the day! But this did not deter the owners of American and Classic cars, members of the ‘Coffee and Cars’ club, from rolling up to the Mill in good time for the opening at 11-00am on Sunday May 26th. In fact, some fifty cars of all vintages attended and included limousines, sports cars and trucks.
The best car on show, as judged by windmill personnel, was a 1953, much modified Polynesian Turquoise coloured Ford Anglia (it had been lengthened and widened and had a 6.6litre engine!) which was owned by Gary Bradly from Swadlincote. Attila Csorba, organiser of the owners group, said ‘We all enjoy coming to the windmill and will be back’.
The mill sails turned steadily all day and despite at times, the inclement weather a lot of people took the guided tours on offer and many were surprised at the way the mill machinery meshed together, even though the mill is over 220-year-old. The bric-a-brac stall was again very popular – one person’s junk is a treasure to another!
The windmill will be open during 2019 (11-00am to 4-00pm) every weekend from
April 6th until the end of October. Large, free, car park!

Adults £4-00 Concessions, including Gold Cards £3-50, Children (5-16) £2-00 (parents can buy one and get one free for children in the same age group) Children under 5 are free.
Organised Adult parties of up to 10 people - £50-00. For each additional person £5-00 is payable).
