Somercotes Choral Society appeals for singers for October concert
Somercotes Choral Society’s April concert ‘As Time Goes By’ was well received by a capacity audience at Somercotes Village Hall on 27th April.
Now the society is starting rehearsals for their October concert on Saturday the 26th at the same venue.
Jen Adams, the society’s Chairwoman, says they particularly need more men. “Currently we only have six male singers compared with over 20 women so we could do with a better balance.
“However, the six men performed gallantly at the last concert though we could do with a few more to join them. Women are also very welcome.”
Jen added that there are no auditions and there is the support of the other singers and also a CD for each singing part.
“So there is no need to be able to read music, but it is nice if people can sing in key! So anyone interested can ring me or just turn up on a Tuesday evening.”
Jen is on 01773 789079.
The choir practises at Swanwick School and Sports College, Hayes Lane, Swanwick every Tuesday evening at 7.15pm. Their website has more information – www.somercoteshoralsociety.co.uk v
