Heage Windmill Opening Day
Heage Windmill has always had a formal opening day when a notable person from the county, or from the mill itself, has declared the mill Open for the season.
This year is no exception and on Saturday April 20th the mill will be ‘opened’ at 11-00am. The opener for 2019 has been unanimously approved by mill management as someone who has supported the mill for many years, particularly in his role as ‘Tractor Day(s) organiser’. In this role he has helped make these days extremely successful, both for the many tractor owners involved and for the mill itself, which as a result has benefited financially since they always bring large crowds.
We are therefore delighted to have asked John Allsop, who was born in Heage but now lives in Belper, to be our opener. He will arrive driving his own Fordson Tractor, just he has done for so many ‘openers’ in the past – but this time it will be himself who will declare the mill ‘open’. It is probable that on the day he will be accompanied by some other tractor owners.
As an advance notice there will be a Vintage Tractor Day on Sunday May 5th which John has organised - further information about this will be available nearer the time.
The windmill will be open during 2019 (11-00am to 4-00pm) every weekend from
April 6th until the end of October. Large, free, car park!
Admission Charges for 2019
Adults £4-00 Concessions, including Gold Cards £3-50, Children (5-16) £2-00 (parents can buy one and get one free for children in the same age group) Children under 5 are free.
Organised Adult parties of up to 10 people - £50-00. For each additional person £5-00 is payable).
School Parties and other children's groups -Standard charge of £40.00 for up to 28 people (contact Lynn on 01773 715177)
