Alfreton Indoor Market adds crafts and vintage attractions
Offering a shopping experience with a little extra - Alfreton Indoor Market, on Institute Lane, is set to become an exciting destination for craft hobbyists and vintage collectors.
The market has always been a popular choice with local shoppers who value its range of products and reputation for a great bargain, not to mention recent improvements to roof and doors which help provide a very comfortable constant temperature. And now new attractions will further enhance its popularity.
On the first Saturday of each month market visitors will be treated to a ‘Crafty Saturday’ selection of stalls selling crafts, homemade gifts and locally produced items. This will be followed on the third Saturday of each month by a vintage table top area where they will be able to browse bric-a-brac, memorablia and retro goodies.
All of the usual stalls will be open for business at the same time.
In addition to the usual 8:30am - 4:30pm opening times on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, the indoor market will also now be opening on Wednesdays between 8:30am and 2:00pm.
The indoor market boasts an impressive retail offering, including:
- butcher
- green-grocer
- baker
- hairdresser
- haberdashery
- card-making accessories
- cake-making accessories
- gifts
- candles
- plants
- ladies’ wear
- eggs
- holistic items
- watch batteries & straps
- gold purchasing
- party goods
- collectables
- community fund stall
- DVD’s, CD’s and gaming
- posters
- mobile phones
A clothes alterations business will shortly be joining the market team as well as a children's clothing stall
The market includes the Alfreton Market Café where refreshments can be enjoyed and customers can sit a while and take a break from their shopping in the new communal area adjacent to the cafe
In a bid to encourage even more traders into the market, the council is offering new traders the opportunity to apply for three free month rent reduction – subject to a six-month commitment. Traders wishing to expand and grow are also supported with rent incentives to encourage expansion.
Anyone considering opening a stall in the indoor market is encouraged to contact our Markets and Town Centre Officer, Vicki England on 01773 520363 or vicki.england@ambervalley.gov.uk.
