Police scrutiny volunteers will review the progress being made in Derbyshire to address cybercrime and increase online safety for businesses and individuals in their latest meeting.

Members of Derbyshire Police and Crime Commissioner Hardyal Dhindsa's Strategic Priorities Assurance Board will meet on Monday 18 March to examine the work being undertaken to combat pressing online issues including fraud, child sexual exploitation and cyberbullying.

The Commissioner has funded a host of projects to tackle the growing risks of internet-based crime, engaging with young people and victims of online crime as well as businesses to raise awareness of the risks.

He also works alongside a number of partner organisations to promote safety online, including primary and secondary schools where young "digital ambassadors" have been appointed to increase knowledge among their peers on internet safety.

Board members will also discuss a report on the closure of Buxton custody suite during next week's meeting and the possible options moving forward.

The meeting will take place at Force Headquarters (Butterley Hall, Ripley, Derbyshire, DE5 3RS) at 2pm on Monday 18 March and will begin with 30 minutes of public questions.

Questions can be asked in person at the meeting or submitted via www.slido.com (code #SPA193), or sent via email to the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (pccoffice@derbyshire.pnn.police.uk). All questions will be answered either at the meeting or shortly afterwards if the information needed is not at hand.

Members of the public are welcome to observe the full meeting but may not take part once the question period has closed.

The full agenda is available online at the Police and Crime Commissioner's website.
