Open Day Love For Broomfield Hall Animals
The Animal Unit at Derby College’s Broomfield Hall in Morley will be inviting families to fall in love with their furry, feathered, scaly and creepy crawly residents at a special Valentine open day on Sunday February 10 between 10am and 3.30pm.
As well as the chance to handle and feed some of the different species – there will be a wide range of family activities from arts and crafts to face painting and to visit the nearby Plant Centre.
Derby College Animal Care lecturer Jonathan Taylor explained: “The Animal Care students work with a wide range of insects, reptiles, mammals and birds as part of their study programmes and the family open day is a great opportunity to meet some of them.
“Some are obviously much more loveable than others but it is a great chance to get close and personal with the different species here – whether that’s feeding the meerkats to handling some of our snakes.
“Our wallaby enclosure, which was built from the proceeds of previous open days, is always particularly popular with visitors and new this February is the fish and rodent room which has some very unusual species.”
