Temporary Library Closure In Alfreton For Improvement Work
A Derbyshire library is to close temporarily to allow building improvements to be carried out.
Alfreton library will close for four weeks at 4pm on Saturday 19 January to relay the roof and replace some roof lighting. It will reopen at 9am on Monday 18 February.
Councillor Barry Lewis, Council Leader and Cabinet Member for Strategic Leadership, Culture and Tourism, said: “We want our libraries to be comfortable and safe places to visit and this investment in Alfreton library demonstrates that.”
While the library is closed, borrowers will have longer to return items on loan.
From Saturday 29 December book loans will be stamped to be returned on Monday 25 February. Books usually have to be returned within three weeks.
From Monday 14 January DVDs marked with a green spot, which can usually be borrowed for a week, will be stamped to be returned on Monday 25 February.
DVDs marked with a yellow spot, which can usually be borrowed for three days, will not be available to borrow after Tuesday 15 January.
Borrowers are reminded that they can also return their items to any Derbyshire library and renew them online via our website.
Libraries closest to Alfreton include South Normanton, Somercotes, Pinxton and Ripley.
