Derbyshire Wildlife Trust - 50% of species in decline in the UK - You can help
With 50% of wildlife in decline, this Christmas Derbyshire Wildlife Trust are asking you to help build a #WilderDerbyshire by giving a gift to a bat, a bee or a hedgehog.
It’s all part of the Trust’s Christmas fundraising campaign – a Species Secret Santa.
Jane Proctor, Head of Business Development explains, “We’ve turned secret Santa on its head this year and are asking our supporters to give to the species they love the most. But – whilst it is fun, it comes with a very serious message and a sobering reason to give.”
“50% of wildlife is in decline in the UK. We’ve lost 97% of hedgehogs since 1950 and small tortoiseshell butterflies have declined by 70% in the last 10 years. Shockingly things have got so bad that a huge 15% of our native species in the UK are at threat of extinction.”
Wildlife needs your help, now more than ever before. Please give to the appeal today and help start to reverse the decline www.crowdfunder.co.uk/species-secret-santa
