No increase in Ripley Town Council budget
Ripley Town Council is pleased to announce its proposal not to increase the amount of Council Tax you pay to them in 2019
At its meeting on 20 November 2018, Ripley Town Council agreed not to increase its overall budget for 2019/20. This follows a detailed review by Councillors which showed that the current precept level is enough to meet the council’s spending plans. These include replacing reserves used this year towards the cost of the new Community Building on Greenwich Park in Ripley.
Leader of Ripley Town Council, Councillor Steve Freeborn said: “We are very pleased to recommend no increase in the Town Council’s share of the Council Tax for the next financial year. We have supported a host of local organisations and will continue to work hard for all the community, throughout the town and the villages.”
Headlines from the draft budget are the funding of:
- Ripley’s Christmas lights;
- The beautiful hanging baskets and planters throughout the summer;
- Provision of many events for the youth of the Township;
- The Citizens Advice Bureau in Ripley;
- Grants to voluntary groups across the Township, including new provision for improving the environment;
- The annual Big Day Out and other large community events; and
- Replacing some of the reserves used to contribute towards the Greenwich Park Community Building.
Ripley Town Council was awarded the 2018 BHIB Derbyshire Local Council of the Year at a recent awards ceremony at Pride Park.
Further details about the draft budget can be found on the Town Council’s website. If residents have any comments about this proposed budget, please send them to Ripley Town Council by email townclerk@ripleytowncoucil.gov.uk or post, Ripley Town Council, 6, Grosvenor Road, Ripley, Derbyshire, DE5 3JF by 4th January 2019.
