DLRAA Receives Donation From Spondon Off Road Club 2018

Published on Sunday 11 November 2018

On Wednesday 31st October 2018, Andrew Fearnley from Spondon off Road Club donated £227.00 for the Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air Ambulance (DLRAA).

Andrew Fearnley and his Family from Belper presented Richard & Julie Fletcher Derbyshire Community Representatives for DLRAA, with the money. The donation came when Andrew had chosen to raise money for us this year at one of their events at Stainby on 22/09/18 and to have dressed their front garden for Halloween and raise money for the DLRAA in this very unique way and asked passer-by to make a donation.  Andrew explained Spondon off Road Club is a Derbyshire based 4×4 club (Motor Sport Authority MSA registered), with members from across the Midlands region. Their members participate in hidden punch events, cane trial sections and some pay and play days, various types of off-road events in a relaxed, family friendly but marshal controlled environment. They try to cater for all types of driver from novices just starting out, to the more enthusiastic of us. The events are usually organised so that all types of 4-wheel drive vehicles can be used. Road legal and trailered vehicles are welcome at their events, but all vehicles must meet minimum scrutinizing requirements (Full requirements can be found at their website. http://www.spondonoffroad.co.uk/

Richard said: “I was delighted to be presented with the money from Andy and his family; everyone has been fantastic in supporting him. DLRAA relies entirely on donations from members of the public as it receives no Government or National Lottery funding, therefore support from people such as Andy & Spondon off Road Club and all their friends is invaluable and goes a long way to helping to keep our lifesaving service flying and saving lives.”

DLRAA was formed in 2008 and has carried out more than 13,000 Rescue missions and saved many lives in the process, each rescue mission costing on average £1,700 with DLRAA completing on average 5-6 missions every single day, 365 days a year
