Police call in to meet with adults with learning difficulties in Belper
Officers from the Belper Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team called at the Whitemoor Centre to speak to a group of adults with learning difficulties about any issues.
PC Wendy Wright and PCSO John Hardy dropped in to the weekly drama group on Thursday, November 1 to meet members and give them a chance to mention any concerns.
PC Wright said: “It was a good opportunity for us to call in and engage with some of the more vulnerable members of our community, find out if they were facing any concerns and hopefully help give them more confidence to approach us if they need to.
“We hope to drop by again in the future as visits like these help us to build on our links within the community.”
Whitemoor is a Derbyshire County Council run facility which provides activities for adults who have learning difficulties, or need a higher level of support. They offer opportunities for people to get involved in a range of hobbies they may not have considered or learn new skills including computing, arts and crafts, cooking, Tai-Chi, Yoga, gardening, music and drama among others.
