Turner Farm Project benefits from former Mayor's fundraising
During his year of office – 2017/18 - former Mayor of Amber Valley, Cllr David Wilson, raised a total of £500 for his chosen charity, Valley CiDS, who operate the Turner Farm Project in Swanwick.
Cllr Wilson took the opportunity this week to present a cheque to Jonathan Brook of Valley CiDS, in the Council Chamber at Ripley Town Hall.
The Turner Farm Project involves the development of a 48 acre farm on the outskirts of Swanwick. The farm is part of an endowment trust, The Turner Educational Charity, and was originally established in 1740 to provide education for poor and disadvantaged children of the locality. It comprises a cottage, farmhouse and outbuildings together with agricultural land. Today the Project helps local young people to reach their full potential through programmes of alternative education.
Commenting on the donation to Valley CiDS, Cllr Wilson said: “This is an excellent project, within my Ward, that delivers much-needed and highly-valued educational projects to a wide cross-section of young people, and I am very pleased to be able to lend a hand in this way.”
