Police scrutiny panel to examine young people's safety
Derbyshire's police scrutiny panel will review work to improve the relationship between young people and the police and increase safety when it meets next week.
Members of Derbyshire Police and Crime Commissioner Hardyal Dhindsa's Strategic Priorities Board (SPA) will hear progress updates on the PCC's engagement work with young people including his Listening To You campaign which gathers their views on policing and their fear of crime.
The meeting, which takes place at 6.30pm on Monday 24th September at Force HQ in Ripley, will also examine the force's progress on supporting young victims of crime including its Got Your Back service tailored to young people recovering from the impact of criminality.
The PCC has set a number of priorities in relation to young people in his Police and Crime Plan including working with partners to ensure advice is available for young people and parents about keeping safe online, particularly in relation to cyber bulling and online exploitation, and supporting diversionary activity such as sport projects to prevent young people engaging in antisocial behaviour or crime.
Also on the agenda for Monday's meeting is a presentation on the PCC's Annual Report, an up-to-date picture on police finance and a review of the work of carried out by the Commissioner's Joint Audit Risk and Assurance Committee during 2017-18.
The SPA is a new style of police meeting which assesses the force against the key priorities contained in the PCC's Police and Crime Plan.
Meetings are now held at the earlier time of 6.30pm to maximise public attendance and accommodate those who work or have childcare commitments during the day.
They are also interactive and involve multiagency participation when possible.
Meetings take place at Force Headquarters (Butterley Hall, Ripley, Derbyshire, DE5 3RS) and begin with 30 minutes of public questions.
Members of the public are welcome to observe the full meeting but may not take part once the question period has closed.
