New police scrutiny meeting to examine progress on drug and alcohol crime

Published on Thursday 17 May 2018

Multi-agency efforts to reduce drug and alcohol crime across Derbyshire will be examined next week in the first of a new style of police meetings.

Derbyshire Police and Crime Commissioner Hardyal Dhindsa will host his inaugural Strategic Priorities Assurance Board (SPA) meeting on Monday (21 May) to discuss the progress being made against his key policing priorities, including drug and alcohol-related crime.

The board replaces its predecessor, the Strategic Governance Board (SGB), which is reflective of its new ‘performance-based' analysis role. Meetings are also held at the new time of 6.30pm to accommodate those people who work or have childcare commitments during the day and are more public-friendly, with interactive presentations from the force, partners and the PCC mapping positive results.

The first meeting, which will take place at Force Headquarters in Ripley, will include detailed presentations from the PCC and the Chief Constable on drug and alcohol-related crime and the results of multi-agency interventions including the ‘Intoxicated' safe-drinking campaign, Public Space Protection Orders (PSPOs) and Taxi Marshall scheme.

The meeting will begin with public questions for a maximum of 30 minutes. Members of the public are welcome to observe the full meeting but may not take part once the question period has closed.

Questions can be asked in person at the meeting or remotely via Twitter or email. Followers of @DerbysPCC and @DerbysPolice can tweet their questions using the hashtag #AskDerbysPCC or questions can be sent via email to the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (pccoffice@derbyshire.pnn.police.uk). All questions will be answered either at the meeting or shortly afterwards if the information needed is not at hand.

The meeting will take place at Police HQ, Butterley Hall, Ripley, Derbyshire, DE5 3RS - members of the public are advised to allow plenty of time to complete the sign-in process for security purposes. The full agenda will be available on the Police and Crime Commissioner's website.
