Man to appear in court charged with breaking into a block of flats in Ripley
A man is due to appear in court next week charged with breaking into a block of flats in Ripley, after he was stopped in the town centre.
Officers had been looking for the man, who was suspected to have broken into the building, on Crossley Street, and stolen metal fittings in October 2017.
The man was spotted by local Safer Neighbourhood policing officers at around 10.45am on Saturday, March 3 on Oxford Street and was arrested.
Paul Fretwell, 41, of Pear Tree Avenue, Ripley, was questioned and later charged with burglary. He is due to appear at Chesterfield Justice Centre last week.
Inspector Dave Parker, who is in charge of policing in the Amber Valley area, said: “This is yet another good example of how valuable the awareness and presence of our local Safer Neighbourhood policing officers is, and how they work to help keep our community safe and bring people to the courts.”
