Volunteer Parents needed to support local families!
Home-Start relaunched in Amber Valley in October 2016 and since then have volunteers have provided emotional and practical support to over 20 families. 10 volunteers have been recruited and trained as volunteers to befriend and support families with children under five.
A single parent from Amber Valley said “The service has been great, with lots of support for me and my son. We have better routine and he has made so much improvement.”
A volunteer said (after working with a family for 8 months) “Although it is sad to be closing my support with this family I know she is where she needs to be and she is doing so well now. Thanks for letting me be part of Home-Start.
A volunteer training course is starting in March. It is open to any parents and introduces potential volunteers to their role, with guest speakers delivering sessions on Working with Disabilities, Managing Behaviour and Child’s Play.
Scheme manager, Rich Seal says, “Many parents need help, friendship, and support during those early years when children are young. Our volunteers experience as a parent can help other parents during a difficult time. Recruiting more volunteers would enable us to support more families.
