All well at Somercotes for healthy event
Somercotes residents were the latest to benefit from a Wellbeing event right on their doorstep, when the Village Hall was the venue for an featured-packed day organised by Amber Valley Borough Council and sponsored by Central England Co-operative, in conjunction with their Somercotes store on Nottingham Road.
Tanya Noon, Co-op Member and Community Relations Officer, said: “Health and wellbeing is really important and we, as a Society, are always looking for opportunities to support our colleagues, members and customers along the way. The free body MOT is a great way for people to have a quick check-up and learn about ways to improve their health and wellbeing at the same time.”
Many local support Organisations attended to give advice and support to the local Somercotes community, these include;
P3 Amber Trust Mental Health, Alzheimer’s Society, Community Transport CT4TC, Derbyshire Core Victim Support, Air Ambulance, Citizens Advice, Sight Support Services, Promocioskodok in Hungary, British Nordic Walking UK, National Westminster Bank, Trent PTS, Core Victim Support Services, Stroke Association, Somercotes Parish Council, Derbyshire Healthwatch and Derbyshire Fire and Rescue came along with their fire engine and crew.
Amber Valley Borough Council run these events to raise awareness of Health and Wellbeing and provide residents with the opportunity to check their current health via a free ‘Body MOT’ provided by staff from Places for Peoples’ Alfreton Leisure Centre. In addition to their health check, individuals were given information on how simple lifestyle improvements could make big difference.
