Meeting set on plans to relaunch Neighbourhood Watch in the Duffield area
Residents in Duffield are being urged to help prevent crime in their community and to get involved with the planned re-launch of the village’s Neighbourhood Watch scheme.
The initiative is set to be revived in the local area and a meeting has been organised to help get things moving.
It’s to give people the chance to find out more about Neighbourhood Watch, the benefits and how to volunteer to coordinate a scheme.
Neighbourhood Watches are small groups of residents who look out for signs of crime in their community and share information with each other and the police.
Members also receive advice on home security and coordinators can help other residents to tap into the support offered by other agencies.
The meeting will take place at 6.30pm for a 7pm start on Thursday, January 18 at The Ecclesbourne School.
Inspector Dave Parker, who is in charge of policing in the Amber Valley, said: “Our Neighbourhood Watch schemes can play an integral part in helping us to keep our communities safe.
“It’s coordinators and members help strengthen communities and develop links with our officers, and can assist us by passing on information and
intelligence about crime or suspicious activity in their neighbourhood.
"Members also receive advice and information on home security and I would encourage as many Duffield residents as possible to get involved"
