TCAA Receives Donation From Strong Survive Derbyshire
On Sunday 26th November 2017, Strong Survive Derbyshire (a local motorcycle club) donated £2075.15 to the Children’s Air Ambulance (TCAA)
Strong Survive members presented volunteer, Julie & Grace Fletcher Derbyshire Representatives for TCAA with the money at The Canal Inn at Bullbridge near Ambergate. The money was raised when Strong Survive hosted an excellent custom and classic bike show on Saturday 23rd & Sunday 24th September 2017, at the Ostrich Inn Long Lane Longford DE6 3AH– showing off different bikes to appeal to all riders while raising money for TCAA; it featured five custom show categories: Chopper, Lowrider, Custom Streetfighter, Trike and Classic, as well as an overall Best in Show. The event had refreshment, craft & tombola stalls and a special raffle with prizes donated by local business. They had some great music too, League of Zeal MCC provided the food stalls.
Strong Survive would like to say a very special thanks to the wives and girlfriends, without their help this show would not be possible. Strong Survive would also like to thank all their friends & family, all the people who donated and supported this event, the show category sponsors, and our friend Weli for helping to design the Tee-Shirts and Posters; The Ostrich Inn for giving us the venue, League of Zeal MCC who provided the fantastic food for the event and last but not least everyone that attended the Custom Show without their support the show wouldn’t have been such a fantastic success.
Julie said: “I was delighted to be presented with the money from Strong Survive, they have done an amazing job. On the day so many volunteered their time and we were also there providing support and help. TCAA relies entirely on donations from members of the public as it receives no Government or National Lottery funding. Therefore, support from people such as Strong Survive Derbyshire and the team of volunteers really are invaluable and will go a long way to helping to keep our lifesaving service flying and saving lives.”
Strong Survive is planning to hold the event annually and will be raising more money for the Air Ambulance Service for the next event we have a provisional date of 24th September 2018, please keep eyes open for the posters.
TCAA was formed in 2012 and has carried out more than 300 transfer missions and saved many lives in the process, TCAA is a national service, flying critically ill children from one hospital to another for specialist care. We are the first and only dedicated paediatric helicopter emergency transfer service in the country. The bespoke, specialist equipment on board our helicopter provides a flying intensive care unit for children. When a child is too sick to fly, we fly a specialist team to them. With flight times, commonly over four times quicker than transfer by road, in many cases, time saved is a life saved.
TCAA relies entirely on donations from members of the public as it receives no Government or National Lottery funding. The average cost of our transfers is £2,800. It costs £134,000 per month to run the service. If you would like to hold an event, support us with a collection tin, volunteer for us or if would like to make a donation.
