Anti-social individuals banned from Ripley town centre
A major blow to rid Ripley town centre of anti-social behaviour has been struck by Amber Valley Borough Council’s Community Safety Team, in partnership with Derbyshire Constabulary, with Civil Injunctions served on problem individuals who associate in the town.
Following a recent escalation of drunken behaviour in the town and concerns raised by local residents and business owners, Injunctions have been granted by the court to prevent these individuals from;
- entering or attempting to enter any part of Ripley Town Centre
- being in possession of an open container of alcohol in any public place within Amber Valley
- rough sleeping anywhere in Amber Valley
The order will remain in force until November 2018.
In applying for the injunctions, Amber Valley Borough Council’s solicitor, told a District Judge at Derby County Court that the conduct of the three individuals had included…
- being heavily intoxicated in public places and drinking alcohol in a Designated Public Place Order area where the consumption of alcohol is banned
- shouting, screaming, swearing, exposing genitals in public places
- urinating and defecating in public
- physically fighting with each other, passing out face down in the street
- threatening behaviour to members of the public and Police Officers
- sleeping rough in doorways
Cllr Jane Orton, Amber Valley Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Community Safety, said: “The Community Safety Team have worked hard to tackle the issues of anti-social behaviour reported in Ripley and will continue to monitor public concern relating to these issues.”
