Man charged with burglary from a nursing home in Smalley
A man has been charged with stealing from a nursing home in Smalley, after he was stopped by police in Heanor.
Officers had been looking for the man who was suspected to have stolen a handbag and purse, containing cash in the early hours of the morning of Thursday, September 21 from the Kidsley Grange Nursing Home on Heanor Road.
The man was spotted by members of the Heanor Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team at around 1.20pm on Friday, September 22 on Weston Street, Heanor and was arrested.
Wayne Sibley, 38, of Greenside View, Smalley, was questioned and later charged with burglary. He is due to appear at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates Court later this month (October 2017).
Inspector Dave Parker, who is in charge of policing in the Amber Valley area, said: “The arrest was down to the awareness and presence of our local Safer Neighbourhood policing officers on the streets, who came across this man who was suspected to have been involved in a burglary the previous day.
“This type of offending affects hard working people who least expect to be targeted, and I am pleased my team were able to find this man and help bring him before the courts.”
