Ripley Skatejam 2017

Thursday 24th August 2017 saw Ripley host its first Skatejam!

The event which was organised by local community group the Greenwich Park Sports Partnership through funding provided by the Derbyshire Police & Crime Commissioner and Ripley Town Council. The event was run by Extreme Wheels Roadshows at Greenwich Park Skatepark on Nottingham Road.


The Greenwich Park Sports Partnership is a group of local people and members of Ripley’s sports clubs dedicated to reviving Ripley’s Greenwich Park as a first-class sports facility. They are now asking more local people to get involved with the group via their Facebook and Twitter pages or by emailing greenwichparksp@gmail.com.

This free event was well attended by young people both participating in Skate/Scooter/BMX activities and spectating. There was a BMX display rider, competitions for prizes as well as music and refreshments.

The event was attended by Derbyshire Police and Crime Commissioner, Hardyal Singh Dhindsa, Ripley Town Mayor, Cllr Sheila Emmas-Williams and her Consort Cllr Roland Emmas-Williams as well as other members of Ripley Town Council.

Extreme Wheels Roadshows will be back in Ripley in October Half-Term hosting a free Sports Leaders course for young people aged 13+ at Ripley Junior School between the 23rd - 26th October.
