US Cars at Heage Windmill
It’s been quite a week at Heage windmill, the unfortunate ‘break in’ incident in the early part of the week however was completely overshadowed by a weekend of glorious sunshine which brought out many visitors.
On Sunday, the arrival of many large American cars, hot rods and trucks, added much colour to the already beautiful landscape. The monsters were owned by members of the Charnwood Cruisers Custom Club and the East Mids Hot Rods and included Chevrolets, Fords and Plymouth models. Many of the cars etc were quite huge and dominated the car parking area. Lynn Allen, the Mill volunteer and event organiser, chose, and then presented, a trophy to the owner what she felt was of the best car.
The event was well supported with craft stalls, mobile refreshments and of course the mills renowned ‘bric a brack’ stall. Lynn said afterwards that she did not yet know how much had been raised for mill funds but ‘it was significant’.
Many people toured the mill and the mill bill, which had been recovered after being stolen in the break in, attracted a lot of attention.
The windmill will be open during 2017 (11-00am to 4-00pm) every weekend from
April 1st until the end of October.
