Free Body MOT at Wellbeing day in Ripley

Amber Valley residents who would like to see how their body is standing up to the stresses and strains of everyday life have another opportunity to take stock, with a free Body MOT being offered at Ripley Leisure Centre on Friday 14th July.

The Free Body MOT is part of a day-long Wellbeing event organised by Community Movers – an Amber Valley Borough Council scheme which offers support to help individuals take the first steps towards an active and healthy lifestyle along with Places for people Leisure. Free taster classes/activities are available during the day.

Between 9.30am to 3.30pm wellbeing experts invite local residents to visit to have the following checked…

blood pressure and heart rate

height/weight and BMI

body fat %

skeletal muscle %

visceral fat %

peak flow


Friendly, personal advice and support will also be offered to help get you active and improve lifestyle and wellbeing.

A number of health, lifestyle and support organisations will be in attendance for help and advice; Core Victim support services, Derbyshire Healthwatch, Citizens Advice, Alzheimers society, Adult Care, Hearing Help, Sight Support Derbyshire, Amber Trust (P3), Trent PTS, Strictly no falling and C4TCT, Central England Co-operative and the Air Ambulance and more.

Walking for Health are launching a new ‘Dementia Inclusive Walk’ around the local area at 1.00pm, so if you know someone who is living with dementia or care for someone who does, then come along. British Nordic Walking are providing a walk at 10-11am and free taster sessions at 11.30am & 2pm, so come along and join in.
