More recognition for Heage Windmill

Published on Tuesday 27 June 2017

Each year many people from all over the UK, and indeed the world, visit Heage windmill on Chesterfield Road. They are so impressed with the mill, the beautiful location, and knowledgeable guides, that they paste their praise on TripAdvisor which is the world’s largest travel site, enabling visitors to record the full potential of every trip. With more than 500 million reviews and opinions covering the world’s largest selection of travel listings worldwide, TripAdvisor provides travellers with the wisdom of the crowds to help them decide where to stay, to fly, what to do and where to eat. It encourages travellers to report on places visited and to award them up 5* ratings on their findings.

In 2015 the windmill was delighted to receive its first TripAdvisor’s ‘Certificate of Excellence’ which is based on the number of independent 4 or 5 star ratings awarded. This was repeated in 2016 and we have just learnt that the mill has again been awarded this highly desired accolade for 2017- three years in a row for an operation which is run and maintained entirely by a small team of dedicated volunteers is some achievement!

Piers Bostock, chairman of Heage Windmill Society said “This Award, now having been received for three consecutive years, represents a huge tribute to all our volunteers’, but adding, ‘that we would just like to get a few more people to come along and join our happy team”.

Details on becoming a volunteer at the windmill can be obtained from Lynn Allen 01773 715177 or lynnallen13@hotmail.com

The windmill will be open during 2017 (11-00am to 4-00pm) every weekend from
